Senior Season Is Closer Than You Think! (Class of 2027, This Is Your Sign 👀)

It might feel early… but if you’ve got a Class of 2027 senior, now is exactly the time to start thinking about senior photos. The best summer and fall dates book up fast, and if you want those golden-hour fields, warm sunsets, or crisp autumn colors, planning ahead makes all the difference.
Let’s talk about timing, what to expect, and how to make this experience actually fun (because it should be!).
When Should You Book?
Short answer: now-ish.
Most senior sessions happen between June and October, with peak dates filling first. If you’re hoping for:
Glowy summer sunsets
Tall grasses and wildflowers
Fall color (which has a very short window here in Minnesota)
…those spots tend to go quickly.
Booking early means:
You get your ideal date
You’re not scrambling last-minute
You have time to plan outfits, locations, and details without stress
What to Start Thinking About Now
You don’t need to have everything figured out, but a little thought now makes your session feel way more you later.
1. Style & Vibe
Do you want something:
Casual and laid-back?
Dressy and polished?
A mix of both?
Think about what feels authentic, not just what’s trendy.
2. Locations
Some ideas to get you started:
Open fields or nature trails
Downtown or urban textures
Sports fields or meaningful spots
Anywhere that feels like your story
3. Outfits
Plan for 2–5 outfits depending on your session:
One casual
One a little dressier
Something that feels very “you”
Pro tip: if you wouldn’t normally wear it, you probably won’t love it in photos either.
4. Details That Matter
This is where things get personal:
Sports gear
Instruments
Letter jackets
Pets (yes, please!)
Anything that represents this season of life
Prep Without the Panic
A few simple things that make a big difference:
Try outfits on ahead of time (no surprises day-of)
Get haircuts about 1–2 weeks before
Keep nails clean and neutral (they will show)
Hydrate and sleep well the night before
Nothing extreme. Just setting yourself up to feel good.
The Goal (It’s Not Just “Pictures”)
Senior photos aren’t about stiff poses or forced smiles. They’re about capturing who you are right now, in a season that goes by way too fast.
A good session should feel:
Relaxed
Comfortable
A little bit fun (even if you were nervous going in)
And parents… this is one of those milestones you’ll be really glad you didn’t rush!
Final Nudge for Class of 2027
If senior photos are on your list (and they should be), now’s the time to start the conversation and get your date locked in. Because the only thing worse than taking photos you don’t love…
is realizing all the good dates are already gone. If you’re thinking about booking or just have questions, reach out. I’m always happy to help you plan something that feels natural, easy, and true to you.
